Digital image watermarking is the process of authenticating a digital image by embedding awatermarkinto it and thereby protecting the image from copyright infringement. Thispaper proposes a novel robust imagewatermarking scheme developed in the waveletdomain based on the singular value decomposition (SVD).The host image istransformed into wavelet domain by applyingwavelet transform, subsequently the lowfrequency sub-band of wavelet transformed image issegmented into non-overlappingblocks. The watermark bits are embedded into the blocks by modifying thefirstcolumn coefficients of the left singular vector matrix of SVD decomposition withthe help of a threshold. Experimental results, compared with the related existingschemes, demonstrated that theproposed scheme not only possesses the strongrobustness against image manipulation attacks, but also, iscomparable to otherschemes in term of visual quality.
