Abstract:

Air movement within cities removes polluted air and It is well-known that the provision of fresh air in cities is one of the main important factors for sustainability, which helps to protect occupants’ exhilaration, tranquility, health and comfort both indoors and outdoors. Therefore, inhabitants’ quality of life can be assured due to provision of fresh air in cities. Thus, the significant energy demands of air conditioning can also be reduced by means of adequate and appropriately designed natural ventilation systems. Generally, it is important to keep in mind that the three objectives of natural ventilation design in buildings, which are indoor air quality, thermal comfort and energy saving, can possibly be achieved when an adequate design of NVP did applied. it is obvious that there is a fundamental correlation between the natural ventilation potential and the composition of urban morphology in built environments. Additionally, all the information for natural ventilation design within cities is not sufficient to designers and decision-makers when considering urban planning strategies, and this has an essential influence on subsequent building design. This study describes the ideas and difficulties related to such exploration and the schemes to be undertaken. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and GIS softwares, standards and strategic advices for urban morphology, microclimate and energy density can be recognized and represented in a GIS-based climate maps. The approach implemented for this research may be practiced in multi-purpose to make available documents in other cases which will make a remarkable contribution to proof-based policy-making and controlling.
