Evaluation of a nanofiltration performance insimultaneous removal of chrome (VI) and arsenic (V) ionsfrom contaminated water

In this paper the effect of initial concentration and pH were investigated at the pressure of 8 bar for nanofiltration (NF) process. Design of experiments was carried out using response surface method (Box-Behenken design). The recovery percentage was 60 ± 3% of feed volume. The results show that by increasing pH, the removal rate of chrome and arsenic ions are increased. With an increase in arsenic concentration, arsenic removal efficiency increases while, the chrome removal efficiency decrease to 65.5%. By increasing chrome concentration, the arsenic removal efficiency increases while, the chrome removal efficiency decreases. The optimum levels of a chrome concentration of 0/545 mg/L, pH of 9,arsenic concentration of 0/172 mg/L was applied in predicting the Arsenic and chrome removal efficiency of 97.1% and 82.5%, respectively
