Abstract:
In traditional refineries, the catalytic chemical process has been considered as an important process working under high pressure. In this paper, we have focused on improving the energy efficiency of a typical catalytic chemical process, working under 2000-2700 psig and also presenting huge energy consumption. The idea of energy reduction in this process is good as it has the potential to exchange energy over the catalytic chemical processes. The objective of this work is to present how to apply energy reduction techniques for getting the most out of waste heat and to keep a stable production simultaneously taking into accounts the operational constraints and practical experiences. In this study, we apply heat integration analysis, as the most important techniques for energy consumption reduction. Accordingly, a set of modifications was identified to increase the energy recovery of the process which resulting in about $0.73 MM/yr cost effective energy saving.
