Collections have been an intrinsic matter for humans and humans have undoubtedly had tasteand talent in collecting objects. In human societies, collections are put together withpurposes and values in various forms. One of these methods which have gained people’sattention is the museum. In simpler terms, museum can be defined as an organization thatcollects, documents, protects, exhibits, describes and interprets material evidence andinformation related to them in the direction of public interests. Welcoming this method,humans have endeavored to secure their cultural and natural heritage. Along withevolutionary changes in the area of architecture, now a day, museums are no longer a placefor protection of collectibles. Hence, they can be considered one of the componentsinfluential on human social life, cultural development and the industry of tourism. Hence, inthis paper while describing concepts and theoretical literature, we wish to evaluate the topicof role of museums in cultural growth and progress of societies and also tourism.
