خلاصه مقاله:
Edwardsiella tarda is an enteric Gram-negative bacterium of the Enterobacteriaceae, first isolated from pond-cultured eel by Hoshina in 1962. It is the causative agent of the systemic disease, edwardsiellosis, in many freshwater and marine fish worldwide, including many commercially important fish. The outer membrane of Gram-negative pathogenic bacteria has an important role in the interaction with hosts in the bacterial pathogenicity during adherence, uptake of nutrients from the host, and eliminating host-defence mechanisms, and it has protective antigenicity, because the components of the outer membrane are easily recognized as foreign substances by immunological defence systems of hosts. Vaccination trials using the lipopolysaccharide of the E. tarda outer membrane have shown protective antigenicity, but the trials did not encourage the development of an effective practical vaccine, because the polysaccharide in the lipopolysaccharide is the main antigenic structure that includes O-serotype specificity as for other Enterobacteriaceae species. Recent studies emphasized the role of the outer membrane protein (OMP) of pathogenic bacteria in protective antigenicity, which is often related to inducing neutralization antibodies that are bactericidal, inhibiting bacterial colonization in hosts and inducing cell-mediated immunity. This study aimed to in Silico determination and validation of a conserved 37 kDa outer membrane protein of Edwardsiella tarda structure and ligand binding site as an effective vaccine candidate
