Abstract:

Because of the extreme mobility and unpredictable environmental aspects in a real road environment, an evaluation is performed and presented. Evaluation of an algorithm to handling the threshold of the signal strength for a multi-vehicle to infrastructure (V2V2I). For this scenario we use Wi-Fi for the vehicle-to-vehicle communication and UMTS for the vehicle to infrastructure (V2I).In this paper first we discover the thresholds between links with the use of RSSI that we screen in our network and after that we present an algorithm to handle these thresholds. We show a simulation model in support of a vertical handover algorithm. We proof our results with a simulation study. We compare our algorithm with a probability driven handover scheme, which uses the mobile’s speed (SPHO) that developed to support seamless and adaptive handover management between WLAN and UMTS.
