Abstract:

A dispersive solid phase extraction by ZnS.Mn nanoparticles in combination with ultrasonic assisted was used as an effective method for the preconcentration of naphthalene in environmental water samples prior to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Properties of ZnS.Mn nanoparticle characterized by SEM and XRD analysis. This adsorbent showed great adsorptive ability towards the analyte. Influence variables such as amount of adsorbent, pH and ionic strength of sample solution, volume of sample, ultrasonic and desorption time, type and vloume of desorption solvent were investigated by screening Plackett–Burman (PB) design. The significant variables were optimized by using a central composite design (CCD) combined with response surface methodology (RSM). At optimum conditions method has linear response over 0.5-500 ng mL−1 with detection limit of 0.05 ng mL−1 with relative standard deviations (RSDs) less than 3.5% (n = 5). The method has been successfully applied for the determination of the naphthalene in environmental water samples
