The present study investigates whether recording audio journal has any statistically significant impact on EFL learners‟ speaking performance based on IELTS speaking bandscore descriptors. Two groups of 30 language learners each were selected from among 90 EFL learners by the means of an IELTS sample test. After a 9-session course, the results of the two groups‟ performance in their pretest and posttest through analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) revealed that in the posttest the audio journal group outperformed the teacher feedback group. Furthermore, multiple analyses of variance (MANOVA) showed that the difference in performance is in terms of grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation
