Abstract:

In present study, low velocity impact response of V-notched marble specimens fordifferent angles was studied. Charpy impact test as a three-point dynamic loading wasemployed to derive the energy absorbed amounts of specimens. The results thenvalidated by numerical modeling using finite element code ABAQUS. The results obtainedfrom numerical modeling showed a good agreement with those of experimental test.Afterwards, to develop verification applicability, the effect of variation of impactorvelocity on the energy absorption value of the specimens was studied. The resultssuggested that the energy absorption values were dependent on velocity impact. In fact,the rise in velocity impact led to increase in the energy absorbed.
