خلاصه مقاله:
The present study is to identify subgroups of drivers based on combination of components of their driving style and driving skills (in other words, ordinary violations, aggressive violations, positive behaviors, dangerous errors, inexperience errors, inattention errors, perceptual-motor skills and safety skills), and study the simultaneous connections between all components of self-stated driving skills of drivers with components of their driving style and finally, the differences between obtained subgroups can be investigated in demographic characteristics and properties related to their driving. 681 drivers who travelled to Baneh City in Kurdistan Province with their personal automobiles from different parts of Iran for recreational purposes were selected as subjects of the study. Doing the cluster analysis resulted in identifying 5 distinctive clusters in terms of components of driving style and skills for drivers. In 4 clusters of them, there was compatibility among components of self-stated driving skills and frequency of corresponding self-stated driving behaviors. In addition, subgroups in demographic characteristics and properties related to driving (such as annual kilometrage, frequency of different types of annual traffic accidents, and etc.) were different with each other. Among clusters, 3 clusters were unsafe which high perceptual-motor skills especially accompanied by low safety skills will be the most dangerous. Therefore, distinctions observed among subgroups of drivers indicate that in developing future strategies for changes in the driving behaviors and improvement of the driving style of drivers, differences among drivers and differences in psychological processes behind their potentially dangerous actions be specifically paid attention to.
