The effects of spouses' social interaction on marriage stability

Marriage stability is an important factor in mental health of family members. Family as a smallest social unit has particular importance. Therefore, when there is suitable and strong relationship between spouses, the family has better atmosphere and it reduces tensions in society. The aim of this study is analyzing the effects of spouses' social interaction on the marriage stability (MS) and since spouses' social actions is equal to common relationship between them, in this study we are analyzing the impact of interpersonal relationship, romantic relationships, sexual relationships, relations with relatives, Economic condition and child-bearing and parenting on the marriage stability. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to assess the relationship between independent variables and the dependent variable which the its quality through the CVR with average of 0.78 and through internal consistency reliability with Cronbach's Alpha coefficients equal to 0.93. Then, a questionnaire using multi-stage random cluster sampling was conducted in specific areas in Tehran. After collecting the data, they were analyzed using Pearson correlation test linear regression and path analysis. The results showed that there is a direct relationship between independent variables and the dependent variable (relationship stability). Multivariable regression analysis revealed that all variables except economy, child and childbearing had direct relationship on MS. But, in addition to the direct impact of interpersonal relationship, romantic relationships, sexual relationships, and relationship with relatives had on MS, all variables of stability except sexual relationship had indirect effect on it too.
