Response of Periphytic Algae to Atrazine (as a Pollutant)

Periphytic algae are primary producers and play a vital role in aquatic ecosystems due to their position at the base of food. Therefore, the aims of this experiment scrunity of influences of atrazine on various aspects of periphytic algae in rivers. The experiment conducted in artificial stream to convey the long - term effects (22days) of atrazine on epiphytic algae that exposed to different concentration of atrazine (1, 11 and 111μg/L). Results indicated that atrazine decreased dry mass, AFDM, chlorophyll a, biovolume and density of periphytic algae.
