Abstract:

A major issue in designing wireless sensor networks is energy consumption. Many routing protocols have been proposed to achieve the energy efficiency until now. Among the routing protocols, LEACH protocol is one of the main algorithm which it is considered the the basis for many algorithms. In the LEACH algorithm, cluster head are selected randomly for each cluster. Find the optimal cluster head of LEACH method is challenging topics in wireless sensor networks, which affect energy consumption. Since finding the optimal cluster head to minimize energy consumption in wireless sensor networks is an optimization problem, so the use of evolutionary algorithms to solve this challenge may be a solution. In this study, we use Social Based Algorithm (SBA) as a meta-heuristic evolutionary algorithm to select the cluster head to increase network lifetime use. The simulations are performed on 5 distinctive eterogeneous sensor networks, each made out of 100 sensor nodes deployed randomly in a play area of 100 m × 100 m sensor field. The results show that our propesed method have better performance compared to the same tasks (eg. LEACH, LEACH-EP, ASLPR).
