Comprehensive overview of the hydraulic engine mount, among other categories of vehicle engine mounts

Dominance on the science of automotive design involves mastering on many engineering sciences where today, appearance is eomplying advanced technologies in modern cars for reasonable comfort for the passengers, for efficiency and handling in compare to the earlier cars. Hitherto, in order to minimize vibration and noise a plenty of efforts have been done to enhance the passengers comfort. To name a few, it should be noted that the engine mount plays a significant role in reducing vibration exchanged between the engine and chassis. This paper presents a brief functional overview of the engine mount in vehicles; it explains operating frequency range in the engine mount of the vehicles, the relationship of the boundary diagram of engine mounts with other car collections, torque roll axis, positioning common types of the vehicles engine mounts; and it also compares their operations. And then, it deals with the substructure and basic function of hydraulic engine mount as the most comprehensive one. Finally, referring to their advantages and disadvantages, the present study introduces different types of engine mount with their usability in the vehicles (including elastomeric engine mount, hydraulic engine mount (with inertia track, inertia track and decouplier, inertia track and decouplier and bell plate (plunger)), semi-active (switchable) and active hydraulic engine mount, and generally compares them with each other as well.
