Abstract:

The efficiency based on the first and second laws of thermodynamics of a solar-ejector cooling system is examined. The impact of generator, evaporator, and condenser temperatures on cycle efficiency are studied. The greatest irreversibilities, in order, are observed in the solar collector, the generator, the condenser, the evaporator and the expansion valve. The system irreversibility rate decreases with increasing evaporator temperature. This is because an increase in the evaporation temperature reduces the pumping power, the heat required by the generator and the heat rejected from the condenser. For an evaporation temperature of 90°C, for example, when the evaporation temperature is increased1 degree, the overall decline in system irreversibility rate is about 0.5 kW, but for an evaporation temperature of 10°C, the overall drop decline is about 0.1 kW for a similar temperature increase. At an optimal generator temperature10°C, depending on the type of solar collector, the evaporation temperature is about 80 to 100°C.
