Abstract:

An alternate approach to analyzing wave records is by determining the resulting wave spectrum for those records. Since the measured spectrum shown considerable similarity, attempts have been made to formulate parametric expressions. After Philips et al 1955, a number of well-known parametric spectrums have been proposed. They have been derived from emprical fits to selected sets of wave measurments, supported by dimensional and theoretical reasoning. Five of these spectral mpdels called the Bretschneider, Persian-Moskowitz, JONSWAP, WALLOPS and TMA spectrums. In the present work, the measured wave data by a buoy in the North Of Persian Gulf for a period of one year have been used to verify suitability of proposed spectral models in this region, Results indicate that the JONSWAP model is an appropriate model for this region. However, proper coefficients are suggested for this model.
