Abstract:
In this study a model based on the van der Waals and Platteeuw (vdW-P) is applied for prediction of hydrate formation conditions of pure gases in the presence of methanol and mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) with application of the Patel-Teja (PT) and Peng-Robinson (PR) equation of state coupled with the UNIQUAC activity model. Methane, ethane, propane, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide are considered as gas components. Also the UNIQUAC binary interaction parameters for each equations of state have been adjusted through the hydrate experimental data directly with the help of Genetic Algorithm in MATLAB environment. The results are presented in order to compare the PT and PR equation of state with each other and with experimental data reported in the literature. The results show that the PT equation of state predicts the hydrate formation pressure with better accuracy than the PR equation of state.
