Abstract:

The Nano-Polyoxotungstate [Cu20Cl(OH)24(H2O)12(P8W48O184)]25- supported on magnetic nanoparticles as selective and recoverable heterogeneous catalysts for the rapid room temperature oxidation of thioether mustard (HD) analogs by hydrogen peroxide. It was observed that the W48P8Cu20-Fe3O4 (hereafter WPCu@ASMNP) shows the highest catalytic activity on oxidation of thioether mustard (HD) analogs with water. Influence of various reaction parameters (such as catalyst loading, oxidant, solvent, reaction time, and temperature) on the conversion were studied. The catalyst was recycled up to five times after simple work up without observable loss of activity and selectivity. The FT-IR after five successive cycles showed that the catalyst was most strongly anchored to the magnetite nanoparticles.
