This work carried out to investigate the effect of homogenizing treatment on the microstructure and tensile properties of Mg-Gd-Al alloys. The samples were examined by using optical microscopy (OM), tensile testing, to evaluate the modification efficiency of the homogenizing treatment. Experimental results show that (Mg, Al)3Gd intermetallic excites in the microstructure, but, homogenization treatment significantly alters the (Mg, Al)3Gd compound to fine dot-like and branched morphology is partially broken and ultimate tensile strength (UTS) was also improved
