The effects of five different types of rubber on hardness and abrasion behavior of cured filled rubber compound were studied through a simplex lattice mixture design. Different amounts of emulsion SBR, oilextended emulsion SBR, solution SBR, oil-extended solution SBR and cis butadiene rubber in a carbon black filled tyre tread model formulation were considered. The effects were successfully demonstrated through regression analysis and contour plots. It was shown that statistical mixture design is an efficient way for elastomer compounding studies
