Effect of Compatibilizer on Electrical and Mechanical Properties of Carbon Black Filled Polyamide 6/Polyethylene Composite

The article is focused on analyzing the effect of the amount of polyethylene grafted maleic anhydride (PE-g-MA) compatibilizer on electrical conductivity and mechanical properties of the polyamide 6/polyethylene/carbon black (PA6/PE/CB) blend composite. The PA6/PE/CB (35/50/16) blend composites with the amounts of 1, 3 and 5 wt.% compatibilizer were prepared by melt mixing method. Addition of 1 wt. % PE-g-MA improved the electrical conductivity and tensile properties of the PA6/PE/CB composite. Higher amounts of compatibilizer led to decrease of the electrical and mechanical properties as a result of changing the composite system from co-continuous to randomdistribution.
