The synthesis of a series of poly(ethylene terephthalate-co-2,6 naphthalate)s (PETN copolymers) containing naphthalene units are described. The melting point and glass transition copolymers were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). the melting temperature of the above copolymers was reduced gradually at the first with the increase of NDA. Studies indicate that naphthalene incorporation into PET at level of less than 2 molt% can protect the UV transmission spectra of packing foods. Co-polyester of NDA are completely UV effectively at wavelengths up to 362 nm in contrast to PET, which is transparent to UV radiation above 295 nm
