In this study, poly (acrylic acid) (PAA) nanofiber membrane fabricated by electrospinning and used as a support for immobilization of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme. Also, for study on the effect of the presence of carbon nanotubes on immobilization, PAA nanofibers containing 4 wt% of MWNTs were prepared as second support. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to determine morphology of nanofiber supports. The results show the PAA/MWNTs nanofiber membrane is a more suitable support than pure PAA for AChE immobilization. Both of the immobilized enzymes showed excellent reusability even after 5 cycles. These membranes are useful for various applications such as biosensor manufacturing
