Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare thermal and flammability properties of three types of commercial unsaturated polyesters (UP) resins and an epoxy resin (Epikote 828). TGA, LOI and rate of burning tests have been used for this evaluation. TGA test results show that the thermal stability of epoxy resin was higher than UPs. LOI and rate of burning results show that the epoxy resin has the highest rate of burning but this resin showed the maximum value of LOI%, which indicates this sample has better flame retardancy than the other samples
