The present work focused to the synthesis and characterization of a biodegradable polyol derived from castor oil and lactic acid in presence of H3PO4 as a catalyst. The synthesized polyol was characterized by FTIR and H NMR spectroscopy. The hydroxyl number of prepared polyol was measured and reported. This polyol may be used for the synthesis of biodegradable polyurethane elastomers
