PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) is produced through chemical reaction of ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid [1]. Fibers prepared from thiscompoundhave low water adsorptiondue toits crystalline structure and lack of hydrophilic groups [2]. Thus, for dyeing, we use following methods: usingdyestuffs with low molecular size, applying high temperature and usingswelling agents such as carriers [3].Carriers not only adversely affect the environment arising from their toxic and hazard nature of these materials, but also usually reduce the light fastness of the dyed PET [4]. For this reason, attemptshave been done to eliminate carriers in dyebath. In one study, khatibzadehet al.,used a hyperbranched polymerto improve the dyeability of PET [5]. Hyperbranched polymers and dendrimers belong to dendritic polymers with densely branched structures and a large number of reactivegroups. These polymers have successfully been used in various applications due to their unique physical and chemicalproperties. They have cavities in their molecule which able them to trap guest molecules by specific interactions. Furthermore, the low melt viscosity of hyperbranchedpolymers offers applications as melt modifiers or blend components [6]. Using mentioned procedure [5],modified PETcould be dyed at boil temperature in absence of carriers.In this study, in order to investigate the rate of dyeing of modified PET using hyprbranched polymer, diffusion coefficient and rate of dyeing constant are considered as the dyeing s kinetic parameterswith C.I. Disperse Blue 56.
