Abstract:
Porous media such as glass wool, rock wool, urethane foam, Styrofoam and nonwovens; have long been used as acoustic absorbents in a wide variety of applications includingarchitectural acoustics, industrial noise control and transportation noise [1]. The extraordinary of silica aerogelsincluding high porosity (99%), high specific surface area (600-1200 m2/g), low density (0.003-0.15 g/cm3), low thermal conductivity (0.01-0.03 W/m.K), and minimum sound velocity(100 m/s) in comparison to solid materials lead to numerous potential applications such as thermal and sound insulatingmaterials [2]. So embedding aerogel in nonwoven fibre matrix which can be dried at ambient pressure, can significantly enhance sound insulation and flame resistance of nonwovens
