Abstract:

Nowadays waterborne coatings have been attracted many attentions because of environmentally aspects[1]. Electrodeposition is a unique application technique incoatings industry[2]. Electrodeposition uses electrical current to deposit the paint. The process works on the principal of Opposites Attract . Cathodic epoxyelectrocoat is the most popular technology in automotive industry because of its superior adhesion and corrosion protection and throwing power properties[3]. Throwing power is the degree to which an electrodeposited film penetrates and coats the surfaces of recessed interiorareas[4]. This ability of the electrodeposition coatings is related to the resistive deposited film. This application technique is limited to conductive substrates. If it is possible to make the electrodeposited film conductive, it would be possible to recoat it again. CNT is an excellentcandidate for this purpose. CNTs exhibit an exceptionally high stiffness and strength, light weight and a diameter dependent specific surface area (SSA) of up to1300m2/g[5].In this study, the electrical behavior and throwing power of an epoxy resin/ CNT coating applied to a metal surface by an electro deposition process was investigated for the first time.
