Abstract:
For most of the oil reservoirs, primary production and waterflooding produces less than half of initial oil in place. One of the best processes for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) is known as surfactant/polymer flooding which has been operational around the world for the last decades. In the first step the effects of wettabilty alteration on the rocks is investigated which effectively change oil recovery efficiency. For this reason contact angle is measured on mineral surface treated with crude oil and surfactants using aging process. In this work three surfactants (C16TAB, SDS and Triton-X100) were used for spontaneous imbibitions in to oil-wet carbonate rocks. The selected surfactant is then used for core-flooding tests. Core flood experiments performed for different types of slug injections including surfactant/polymer (SP), alkaline/surfactant polymer (ASP) and polymer/surfactant (PS) to investigate the effects of chemical slug injection patterns. The results of core flooding showed that tertiary oil recovery could reach up to 30% of initial oil in place by
injecting chemical slugs containing Na2CO3, Triton-X100 and hydrolysis HPAM. This study indicates that the slug injection arrangement plays an important role for the oil displacement .
