Abstract:

In industrial furnaces a significant amount of heat transfer from flames to inner surfaces of the furnace is carried out by thermal radiation. Therefor luminousity of the flames has a significant rule on thermal radiation heat transfer. Conversion of the industrial furnaces from liquid fuel to gas fuel results in reduction of luminousity and consequently reduction in thermal radiation heat transfer. In this paper the effects of solid fuel particles injection on luminousity and thermal radiation and also distribution of NOx ollution and soot had been evaluated in numerical methods. In this regard the following models had been used: k-ɛ RNG turbulence model, PDF combustion model, DO radiation odel, thermal NOx model and two step soot model. Results show that injection of solid fuel particles (coal) have a noticeable effect on luminousity of the flames and thermal radiation heat transfer. Also injection of fuel particles results reduction in the flame temperature therefore reduction in thermal NOx. Achieved results of this theses show a reasonable overlap with experimental results
