Abstract:

Implementing appropriate methods in designing buildings that are in harmony with living climate has always attracted attention in architecture. In cooperation with climatologists, architects try to make the most out of climatic potential facilities in each region. Using natural energy in buildings helps in saving fuel and more importantly, increases comfort and hygiene in the residential environment. This, in turn, leads into a healthy environment. Housing design with respect to climate is the first defence line against factors external to the building. This paper aimed to present models of housing design that make the most out of climatic facilities, such as sunlight, temperature, precipitation, and relative humidity. The studied area lies in Yasouj, Iran. Climatically, it is a mountainous area and has a temperate climate, which is relatively cold in the winter and relatively hot in the summer. The focus of the study was on renewable energy sources, such as sunlight and wind, in improving thermal conditions and increasing housing comfort indices. It studied the role of height and the number of floors, and apartment s orientation in the thermal performance of buildings. Having carried out field tests and simulation using Eneryplus software, the most appropriate floor and orientation were determined.
