Abstract:
Needs analysis is considered as indispensable part in language pedagogy. The present needs analysis is based on a diagnostic philosophy; it aimed to identify somesubjective needs of Iranian EFL students studying at Islamic Azad University, Qazvin branch. 66 EFL students from various fields participated in this needs analysis. Aquestionnaire consisting of three sections and 32 items was administered and completed in four classrooms. The results of the present study have demonstrated theuniversity students’ expectations and interests concerning learning English as aforeign language. This subjective needs analysis findings contribute to learnercentered pedagogy which accentuates learners’ making decisions about how and when to learn, as well as the space in which they learn.
