Abstract:

Teaching through task creates a favorable learning condition for learners in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) classes. This research aims to investigate the probability of success in integrating task-based language teaching (TBLT)and in comparison with Grammar Translation Method (GTM) in ESP courses while reading comprehension of Iranianstudents majoring in EMBA from Zanjan and Sanandaj University in Iran. To do so, the researcher had two groups ineach university one as experimental and the other as control group as the participants of the study. A pretest was performed in each group. Then the control group was treated with GTM while the ones in the experimental group worked with some patterns of task-based instruction. At the end of the treatment, a post test wasadministered to them. The findings revealed the significant advantage of teaching ESP through tasks and integrating this approach as an innovative one in this trend.
