Abstract:

The present study was an attempt to determine the relationship between foreign language anxiety and willingness to communicate (WTC) inside and outside the classroom among male and female EFL learners. To this end, the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) by Horwitz and Cope (1986) and WTC questionnaire by MacIntyre et al. (2001), which consists of two parts related to WTC inside the classroom and WTC outside the classroom, were administered to 120 students selected based on a convenience sampling method. The data were then analyzed through SPSS. The correlation coefficients indicated that both for male and female EFL learners, anxiety was positively correlated with WTC inside the classroom and significantly negatively correlated with WTC outside the classroom
