Abstract:
An eco-friendly green synthesis of Fe3O4 (Magnetite) and Fe2O3 (Hematite) nanoparticles using extract of black tea was investigated. General procedure consists of the reaction of FeCl3 (0.1 M, 30 ml/H2O) with leaf extract. This reaction was carried out at two different pH media (neutral, alkaline). NaOH solution (25%) was applied for alkaline media. Obtained products were characterized by XRD, SEM, IR and UV-vis spectrophotometer. The XRD pattern showed different diffraction peaks corresponding to the crystal planes of crystalline Fe3O4 (JCPDS file. No=19.0629) and Fe2O3 (JCPDS card file no, 01-072-0469). The average particle size of the synthesized products were estimated using the Scherrer equation which confirmed by SEM images. The results showed Fe3O4-MNPs and Fe2O3-NPs were purely synthesized in alkaline and neutral media, respectively. In this study, we successfully synthesized nano spherical structure of Fe3O4-MNPs and Fe2O3-NPs by green, facile, and inexpensive method with plant tissue.
