Abstract:
This research was to find a reliable technique to streamline the transitional cross-sections in hydraulic structures. In consequent, a numerical technique with the purpose of streamlining the cross-sections through mapping a streamline on solid boundaries, was presented in this paper. This technique consists of solving problems in rectangular and curvilinear coordinates by utilizing a proper grid generation technique. In order to employ this streamlining technique for different problems, a source code in C++ programming language was written. A frequent problem was adopted and solved by the source code and OpenFOAM software to verify the code and the streamlining technique. By comparing the results obtained from the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools, the source code and also the numerical technique was verified and qualified to improve the streamlining techniques in different application fields.
