Architectural Design in Harmony with Nature in the Iranian Garden

Since nature is the manifestation of emotions, passions, joys and beauties, human beings have always tried to be in sync with it. Nevertheless, due to the occurrence of crisis in the quality of human interaction with nature and its consequent damages, nature is constantly changing towards decay. Landscapes change because they are the expression of the dynamic interaction between nature and human. Natural landscapes are the result of consecutive reorganization of the land in order to adapt its use and spatial structure better to the changing societal demands. To sustain nature and prevent such crises, various approaches are frequently introduced by scientists and researchers. Therefore, the first step in finding a suitable design pattern is to demarcate the interaction of human and nature in the field of landscape and to elucidate the type of interaction formed. On the other hand, Iranian garden, as a supreme example of Iranian landscape, is an image of Iranian-Islamic human beliefs in the historical context, which is still remembered as a successful pattern despite adversities; since the garden is an example of phenomena leading to the integration and fusion of natural and human-made systems. To this end, the present study attempts to achieve a suitable pattern for designing in sync with nature by evaluating the interaction between human and nature in the Iranian garden and identifying the concepts and components used in it. In this study which descriptive-analytic and collecting data is based on librarian and documentary need and is applied, to determine the position of man in relation to nature and its capture by human, the types of human relation with the nature is examined.
