Revitalization of historic fabric with the approach of strengthening social interaction (Case study: Adjacent context Zanjan historical Bazaar)

In urban planning, urban public spaces are considered as the context of social relations between citizens and promote social interaction among the most important cities fail to count the effects of urban spaces. Unfortunately, ignoring the cultural-historical values of old fabric of cities triggers restoration activities which are simply physical and do not consider social aspects. Thus, this research seeks revitalization of historical fabrics with an emphasis on social aspects of urban public spaces. The goal of this paper is to assess social interactions in public spaces adjacent of Zanjan historical Bazaar -called Sheet Bazaar - to recognize and classify their strengths and weaknesses and present more appropriate and effective strategies for their improvement. This paper is taken from a research project conducted by the Municipality of Zanjan and Zanjan University. The nature of survey is applied, the method is analytic-descriptive and data is gathered via documentary studies, questionnaire of SPSS and observations. The analysis shows that social interactions in this context because of the poor quality of the environment, is very weak. This problem has caused the area to become inefficiencies that residents are not reluctant to communication. One of way the rehabilitation in this area is maintaining index elements and attempt to offer them in area. In the end, policies and strategies appropriate offered for old fabric regeneration, with the aim of strengthening the social interaction.
