Abstract:

Recently, the increasing application of nonlinear power electronic devices in various fields has led to growth of harmonics generation and current lagging than utility, as two significant restrictions. Furthermore, it can also result in power quality difficulties which decrease the total efficiency of the system. By utilizing reduced-switch converters which have less number of circuit elements, the overall cost and power losses of system are reduced and the system s efficiency and reliability are improved. However, employing a capacitor leg in reduced-switch converters makes it necessary to stabilize DC link. So, the DC link is fixed via a fuzzy controller. The control scheme is designed by fuzzy logic controller in unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) having a half bridge structure. The system modelling is done in MATLAB/SIMULINK and in order to validate the proposed method, a comparison is done with PI controller.
