Abstract:

TiO2 nanorods can be used as dye-sensitized solar cells, various sensor and photocatalysts. TiO2 nanorods are synthesized by a hydrothermal corrosion process in NaOH solution at 200 °C using TiO2 powder as a source material. We report on the synthesis of TiO2 nanorods in anatase, Tutile and Tis0s phases and synthesis of TiO, nanorods by incorporating with silver oxide and iron oxide dopant. The morphologies and crystal structures of the TiO2 nanorods were characterized using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD). The XRD patterns showed the formation of nano crystalline phases. FE-SEM revealed that grains trend to make a rod shape fromspherical particles. FTIR spectra show that Ti-O-Ti, Ti-O and Fe-O bonds are formed and indicate that titanium is in four-fold coordination with oxygen. The effects of chemical compositions andcalcinations temperature on the surface topography and the crystallization of phases were studied.
