Abstract:
In this study, the silver substituted hydroxyapatite nanopowders were synthesized by Coprecipitation rout at varied XA = Ag/(Ca+ Ag) (from 0 to 8%) with the atomic ratio (Ag + Ca)/P fixed at 1.67. These powders were characterized by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Dynamic light scattering (DLS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The results showed, size of powders is 70-100 nm. It was indicated that an increase in silver substituted leads to a decrease in size and crystallinity of powders, whereas the particles size distribution is broaded. The hydroxyapatite phase was found to be stable up to 900°C in pure hydroxyapatite, whereas in silver substituted hydroxyapatite samples were stable until 700°C.
