Abstract:

The aim of the present work was to prepare nanoparticles suspension by ultrasound waves in antisolvent precipitation system for enhancing availability of azithromycin (AZ) a poorly water-soluble drug. Use of high stream velocities enhances mixing of AZ ethanolic solution with water, whereas addition of polymers/surfactants inhibits/lowers the particle growth, was prepared a homogeneous solution. With ultrasound waves, phase transition was occurred and the AZ particles with size <100 nm was prepared. Several experimental parameters, such as the ratio of AZ to stabilizer, the type of stabilizer and the concentration of stabilizer, were investigated in the ethanol- deionized water system. The results showed that the best stabilizer is PVP (poly N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) 1 mg/ml that the produced nanosuspension had a mean particle size of 96 nm and size distribution 35- 200 m.
