Abstract:

Al7075(Al-5.6Zn-2.5Mg-1.6Cu) was successfully synthesized via controlled atmosphere ball milled for 1-20h using elemental powders as a raw materials. The MA powders were annealed at 300°C for 2h under vaccum of 10°torr. Powder characterization were studied by optical microscopy, SEM, XRD and Microhardness at different milling time. Particle size measurements and XRD analysis after 20h of milling showed the formation of 8 average particles size with mean grain size of 38mm. It was found that due to formation of solid solution and diffusion of Mg in Al matrix, lattice parameter of Al was increased after annealing.
