Abstract:

(3-Mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane, commercially available reagent was added to electrochemically oxidized hydrocaffeic acid for preparation of new functionalizing reagent. The reagent was applied chemically onto the surface of various nanostructures by simply refluxing the reagent in a suspension containing the nanopowders in organic media for 24 hours. The electrochemical investigations were followed in optimized pH, potential window and scan rate of potential. Electrochemical studies based on cyclic voltammetry as well as FT-IR spectroscopy data confirmed the completion of the reaction. Nanostructured materials were also characterized with conventional methods such as crystallography, spectroscopy and microscopic methods. The cyclic voltammograms were achieved on glassy carbon electrodes using a three electrode system, but bulk electrolysis electrochemical reactions were followed by a simple two electrodesystem using graphite rod electrodes. The mechanism of Michael addition reaction of organosilane was also deduced by electrochemical methods.
