Despite significant economic and social importance higher education especially in agricultural sector, talent management in Iran has not been examined extensively yet. Many universities in the globe have also incorporated this concept into their processes, systems, curricula, development programs, and even mission and visions. However, information on how universities in Iran perceive and practice talent management is significantly limited. Thus, the purpose of this study is to highlight how talent management components are perceived in agricultural higher education system, and how it can add to achieving job satisfaction of faculty members. Using the survey method, 355 responses from all agricultural college and universities were collected with online questionnaires. Structural equation modeling was used to test the hypotheses. The results show that talent management components included (a) identify (0.39), recruitment (0.38), develop (0.40) and retention (0.57) had a significant effect on job satisfaction and totally explained 77 percent variance of this variable. Thus, Agricultural higher education should be encouraged to establish talent management strategy to accomplish higher aims and sustainability by focusing on performance and job satisfaction of faculty members. Finally, based on the findings, recommendations were presented for planners and managers in order to improve job satisfaction of faculty members with implementations of talent management process in agricultural higher education system.
