In bender element test, the accurate shear wave travel time might be covered by some unwanted phenomena such as near-field effect. In the present paper, basic theoretical background and definition of near-field effect were considered, and influences of near-field effect on the results of bender element test of Firoozkooh sand were experimentally evaluated. According to the results, near-field effect was greatly affected by frequency, and for higher frequencies (rather than 10 kHz), its influences were properly alleviated.
