Abstract:

The conventional finite element based methods assume no slippage takes place at the soil-pile interface. This idealistic assumption is far away from what happens actually. In this study, a new thin-layer interface element is developed for modeling the localized shear at the soil-pile interface and considering the influence of relative displacement at the interface on the axial capacity of piles. Some data provide from Ahvaz city-center geotechnical studies, are simulated and compared with the numerical results obtained by using this model. The results show a good agreement and show that is can be successfully complicated situation.
