Abstract:

Membrane technology is being developed as a practical procedure to assist other sciences newly. One of the most potential capabilities for membranes is using them in composite matrix for different applications. Several types of membrane can be made in different aspects such as structure, material, modification type and so on. A reasonable way to improve membranes performance is their modification by nanoparticles. They can be used alone or in combination with other nanoparticles for numerous processes such as adsorption, treatment and etc. Different nanoparticles with variation in their material can be used to modification of membrane bulk or surface. As a novel appliance, nanoparticle-modified membranes are utilized for antibacterial aims. Biofoulants can seriously affect membranes performance. Since biofouling can t be removed by ordinary fouling elimination methods such as physical and chemical washing, hence antibacterial membranes would be proper alternative for prior membranes. In this review, some of the membranes modified by nanoparticles and their antibacterial properties will be discussed.
