Abstract:
The use of microalgae in effluent treatment has been under exploration inrecent decades and the laboratory experiments were performed to studythe nutrient removal of nitrate by marine microalgae, Cholrella salina.Nitrate was removed by open pond photobioreactor on 7th day for nitrateconcentrations between 30 and 100 ppm, resulting in nitrate removal ratesfor Chlorella salina in dairy and slaughterhouse synthetic wastewaterswere 100% and 71%, respectively. The present results suggest Chlorella salina is the Better performance ingrowth than the open pond for nutrient removal from synthetic wastewaterand it can improve the quality of water for their discharging limits.
